Some Remember Others Rejoice

Today is the official anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11. It will be a day where we remember and still mourn all that was lost on that fatefull day. The fact that the U.S. came under attack while the rest of the world stopped and watched the wreckage and the carnage just like a horrible accident at the side of the road. Those of us in Canada watched helplessly as the tragedy seemed so close yet to far away to be able to reach out and help physically. But we do not forget almost everyone in Canada could say without hesitation where we were or what we were thinking that morning so long ago.

Yet, there are some people who find that today is the greatest of all days as Kienan Herbert was returned home around 3 a.m. this morning after being abducted. The past couple of days was probably more than the family could bear and stories like these usually do not have a happy ending. I am sure that for that family 9/11 will probably seem like the best day of their life as the child was returned. They will remember this day where they were and what they were thinking when the little boy was returned.

So it will depend on which side of the coin you are on as to whether today is a day to weep or a day to rejoice, maybe it is a day to do a little of both. The decision will be your own. Myself I am a little of both. While remembering the fallen heroes and the large number of people who died as result of tragedy on the same coin I am glad we live in a world we miracles even small ones like Kienan being returned to his family still occur.
